The contest is open to:

  • Tech startups, tech-enabled startups and/or early-stage companies
  • Startups with a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and initial traction;
  • Startups that received less than USD 1,000,000 in funding;
  • Startups with operations based in the country/city applied from.

About the Seedstars World Competition

Launched by Seedstars, a Swiss-based private group of companies with a mission to impact people’s lives in emerging markets through technology and entrepreneurship, the Seedstars World Competition caters to promising early-stage startups from emerging markets. 

Pierre-Alain Masson and Alisée de Tonnac set off on a journey around the world to establish the Seedstars World competition and activate up-and-coming areas.

From June to November annually, the competition grants intensive training on how to be investment-ready to contestants. 

The competition spans across 3 stages, in local, regional, and global stages. 

Seedstars is currently present in over 80 emerging regions.

Key Dates and Order of Program

The deadline for submission of applications is 31st August 2020 

Selection results and scores of each applicant will be announced by the end of August 2020. 

 Local Stage: June – August 2020

Regional Stage: November – December 2020

Grand Finale: April 2021

Applications will be assessed by the Seedstars team using a purpose-built algorithm – the Investment Readiness Score – to evaluate the viability of startups.

Finalists will be selected based on their startup strength and scalability.

Local Stage:- June – August 2020: Virtually, startups can apply from any part of their country to the nearest competition in their region. One winner per country will be to participate in the Regional Stage.

Regional Stage:- November – December 2020: Local Stage winners will go on to the regional stage to compete in a broadcasted pitch competition on Seedstars Life. Finalists will move on to the Grand Finale. 

Grand Finale:- April 2021: All the winners from all five regional stages will be assembled in in-depth entrepreneurial training and the opportunity to compete for the title of Global Winner and the prize of up to $500,000 USD in equity investment.
