Fully-funded University of Ghana Postgraduate & Graduate Study for Ghanaians in the UG-Tullow Tertiary Scholarship Scheme 2020/2021

Beneficiaries of The UG-Tullow award receive a full scholarship that provides:

  • Tuition fees for selected study
  • Allowances
  • Health insurance
  • Moderate subsidy for gadgets such as a laptop
  • Accommodation for students pursuing 4 years undergraduate programs and 1-year master’s programs (but in exceptional circumstances may also include 2 years M.Phil programs).


In order to be eligible to apply to the University of Ghana-Tullow (UG-Tullow) Scholarship,  

  • Applicants must be a Ghanaian citizen.
  • Applicants must be incapable of financing the study.
  • Applicants must hold a WASSCE aggregate of 19 or above OR
    • Be a continuing student with a CGPA of 3.0 or more.
  • Applicants must not have any past or pending disciplinary action taken against them.
  • Applicants must meet the standard University of Ghana admission requirements for a full-time regular undergraduate and postgraduate programme.


  • The Scholarship beneficiaries are required to maintain excellent academic standards of at least a B average or 3.0 CGPA in order to be in good standing to keep the Scholarship
  • Indigenous students from the Western Region are particularly encouraged to apply
  • Students intending to study the following Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) programs listed below are especially encouraged to apply

About UG-Tullow Tertiary Scholarship Scheme

The UG-Tullow Tertiary Scholarship Scheme is a unique national opportunity awarded to Ghanaians of exceptional academic capabilities. 

Organized annually by the University of Ghana Students Financial Aid Office(SFAO), the scholarship program provides financial aid to students who are interested in pursuing and advancing their academic career but in dire financial needs. 

The scholarship is available for both Graduate and Undergraduate students to obtain a Postgraduate and Graduate degree respectively.

Key Dates and Order of Program

The deadline for the submission of the applications for the 2020 UG-Tullow Tertiary Scholarship Scheme is Wednesday, September 30, 2020

Applicants are assessed on the basis of their academic qualifications, evidenced financial situation and how well they satisfy the requirements for selected study 

Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted for an interview. Applicants will have 10 consecutive days to confirm acceptance of the scholarship admission offer. 

After this date, it will be assumed that the student is unable to take up the scholarship. 

The University of Ghana reserves the right to refuse or end attribution of the scholarship if any information provided in support of the application is false.
