Winners of the challenge will have a chance to compete for $1 million USD in Prizes-

  • $250,000 USD Grand Prize: A single team will be designated the grand prize winner.
  • $75,000 USD Regional First Runners-Up:

Three teams from around the world (Americas, EMEAR and APJC) will be designated the regional first runners-up and will receive $75,000 USD each.

  • $50,000 USD Second Runners-Up:

Three teams will be designated the second runners-up and will receive $50,000 USD each.

  • $25,000 USD Third Runners-Up:

Three teams will be designated the third runners-up and will receive $25,000 USD each.

  • $10,000 USD Fourth Runners-Up:

Three teams will be designated the fourth runners-up and will receive $10,000 USD each.

  • $10,000 USD People’s Choice:

The finalist entry that receives the most votes will receive the People’s Choice Award.

  • $10,000 USD Cisco Employees’ Choice:

The finalist entry that receives the most votes will receive the Cisco Employees’ Choice Award.

  • $50,000 USD Greenhouse Gas Solutions Prize:

A single team will be designated as the winner of this prize.

  • $50,000 USD Ethical AI Prize:

A single team will be designated as the winner of this prize.

  • $50,000 USD Digital Inclusivity Prize:

A single team will be designated as the winner of this prize.

  • $50,000 USD HBCU Startup Prize:

A single team will be designated as the winner of this prize.

  • $50,000 USD Pandemic Response Prize:

A single team will be designated as the winner of this prize.

  • In addition to a cash infusion to develop individual solutions, winners will receive peer and industry validation for their innovation, as well as have a great opportunity for global recognition and publicity.

This Contest is offered only to-

  • Individuals age eighteen (18) years or older at the time of registration (“Individual Participant”),
  • Teams of up to five individuals age eighteen (18) years or older at the time of registration (“Team Participant”),
  • Legal business entities (“Business Entity Participant”)

About the Cisco Global Problem solver Challenge

The Cisco Global Problem Solver Challenge #TechForGood caters to innovative technology Startups solving the world’s most pressing social and environmental problems.

The challenge is a scheme launched by Cisco to seek to inspire and empower a generation of global problem solvers who will drive and thrive in the increasingly digital economy. 

The 2021 challenge  is the fifth edition of the annual Cisco Global Problem Solver Challenge and aims to recognize new business ideas that leverage technology for social impact. 

Spread across 20 different awards, the prizes will help accelerate the adoption of breakthrough technology, products, and services that drive economic development, and solve social/environmental problems.

Key Dates and Order of Program

Applications will close by January 29th, 2021, at 5 pm.

Semi-Finalists will be invited to submit a more detailed proposal by March 30th, 2021 and submissions will close by April 23 at 5 pm PT.

Announcement of Finalists and People’s Choice Voting will open by June 2nd, 2021.

People’s Choice Voting will close by June 18, 2021.

Winners will be announced by June 29th, 2021.

If you are selected as a Semi-Finalist, be sure that your team leader logs in to the Challenge website before the April 23, 2021 5pm PT deadline to double check all of the materials and click submit in order to be considered for the final round.

Submissions will be reviewed by Cisco technology experts and high-profile judges.

Evaluations will be based on ideas that are especially innovative and clearly articulate the use of technology, feasibility, and scale of impact.
