The winners and runners-up will

Applicants eligible for participation  include:

  • ASEAN young students.
  • Enrolled High School and University/College (bachelor’s degree) Students.
  • Both individuals and teams are eligible.

Rules, Requirements, & Specifications 

  • The categories are divided into Video, Infographic, and Essay.
  • Each school can submit an entry in 3 categories. However, the individual /team can only participate in 1 category.
  • There’s no limitation on the number of members on the team.
  • Each school can submit entry in 3 categories with the signature of the schoolhead/Dean.

However, the individual team can only participate in 1 category.

  • Applicants are to submit their works in English, together with personal details including CV, Student ID Card, and an official letter from their Institution, proving that he/she is a current enrolled student with an official stamp/signature.
  • Entries depicting violence, sexism, racism, or other inappropriate content such as smoking, drinking, or other vices, including messaging deemed to advocate curtailment of the rights of others , will be disqualified.
  • Each individual or team is strongly encouraged to have a social media account for promoting ASEAN Centre for Energy Evaluation
  • By joining the awards, the applicants acknowledge and guarantee that their entries are original work created solely for this awards and that it does not infringe on copyrights, trademarks, and the rights of privacy, publicity, or intellectual property rights of any person orentity
  • By joining the awards, applicants agree to grant the ASEAN Centre for Energy the right to reproduce, distribute, display, and create derivative works of the entry in any media at any time and any cost.

Application Instructions

Applicants of the ASEAN Member States interested in joining the ASEAN Energy Youth Award 2020 can apply by following the procedures listed in the foregoing:

  • Read the Guideline Manual as the reference for application.
  • Forward an email to with the following attached:
    • Your video/infographic/essay in English(with the file directly attached or via a Google Drive or a Dropbox link)
      • The length of the essay should be no more than 1000 words, with Typography: Times New Roman, 12, Spacing: 1,5, Paper Size:A4
      • The video type should be MP4,Video Length: 3 minutes (max), size 3 GB (max).
      • The Poster/Infographic Design should be in JPG/JPEG/PDF File  format, 2,000 x 2,000 pixels (max), 2 MB–5 MB
    • Up-to-date CV 
    • Scanned copy of your Student ID card 
    • An official letter from your Institution, proving that you are a currently enrolled student with an official stamp/signature.
  • The subject should go thus:
    • For Video submission: “AYEA2020–Video–Name.
    • Poster/InfographicDesign: “AYEA2020–Poster–Name”. 
    • For Essay writing: “AYEA2020–Essay–Name”.

About the ASEAN Energy Youth Award 2020

ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) is an intergovernmental organization within the ASEAN structure that represents the 10 ASEAN Member States’ (AMS) interests in the energy sector.

The ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) organized the 1st ASEAN Energy Youth Award to recognize young students’ valuable contribution to society and energy transition.

The theme of the first awards is “Advancing Sustainable Development and Energy Transition through Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy in the ASEAN Region”. 

The objectives of the award are:

  • To promote sustainable energy development in the ASEAN Member States.
  • To encourage all the youths of the ASEAN Member States to express their perspectives, insights, and innovative ideas for enhancing energy security, energy access, and affordability in a sustainable way.
  • To engage the youth sector by using their creativity and innovation to develop an awareness of clean energy and a sustainable environment.

Key Dates and Order of Program

ll entries must be forwarded by the deadline of August 31st, 2020

The winners and runners-up will be announced at the 38th Gala Dinner in Vietnam.

The Board of Judges shall complete and verify the Overall Tally Sheet with their signatures affixed.

ASEAN Center for Energy will select the top 10 for each category then the Board of Judges will pick the winners and runners-up.

Criteria for evaluation include:

  • Derivation from the presentation-50%
  • Relevance &Adherence to the objectives and theme of the awards- 30%
  • Originality of the content- 20%

Winners and runners-up will be selected for each category

The Awarding Ceremonies will be held in conjunction with the Gala Dinner of the 38th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM) and ASEAN Energy Business Forum(AEBF) 2020, in November 2020 in Da Nang, Vietnam.

The award is jointly organized by ACE and the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation (SEAMEO), supported by the Korea Energy Agency.
